Planting corn

Time flies, we still have the Christmas celebrations in our eyes and hearts, but before long, it will already be Easter.

The year began with planting 25 fruit trees and preparing the ground for planting corn: first, the soil must be plowed and hoed to take advantage of the rainy season. This work, traditionally done by hand, takes a lot of effort and many hours, but it is necessary to cover much of the need for corn meal, one of the main ingredients in Tanzanian cuisine.

This year the soil was plowed by a tractor rented from outside, and Francesco thought an investment that would bring a great economic benefit to Malaika: getting a tractor! Malaika’s supporters have responded generously to the appeal, and we are already well into fundraising.
