In the second week of October, we joyfully welcomed the arrival of 150 chicks—little new residents that have kicked off a valuable self-sustainability project. It was a moment of great excitement for everyone: watching these animals grow day by day is a unique learning experience for our children.
Soon, these chicks will become laying hens, and their contribution will be vital. Their fresh eggs will ensure a steady supply of nutritious protein for our children’s diet. But that’s not all: the surplus will be sold to the local community, creating a new source of income for the home.
This poultry project is not an isolated initiative, but a new piece in our broader self-sustainability puzzle. Alongside our candle production and vegetable garden, this new venture tangibly increases our self-produced resources, making Malaika increasingly independent and sustainable.
